Research Documentation

This is an non-exhaustive list of the sources that I found for the periods in history which I was examining.
I used most of these documents in building the history of our family, and the Family Trees.
Even when I cannot refer directly to certain documents, because I do not have a copy, more modern documents
that I do possess make frequent reference to these older documents, which often exist in very limited copies.
However, Google Books makes available more and more of old documents which interest me, so I Google frequently.

My research was concentrated in seven spheres :

1 - The rise and fall of the Rotrou Dynasty in France (960-1226),
2 - History of the Perche through the ages, especially the 9th to 12th Centuries,
3 - The installation in England of the French De Nogent descendants (1066-1171),
4 - The installation in Ireland of the English De Nogent descendants (1171),
5 - The De Nogent (and ultimately Nugent) Family Tree in Ireland (1171-present day),
6 - Our recent family tree in Ireland and England (1780-present day),
7 - Connection of the Main Line of the Nugent Family Tree to my tree segment (1780-today).

COMMENTS : ............................ This recent book, apparently a book developed from Ms. Thompsons thesis, in English, concentrates on the origins and
descent of the French De Nogents, and is of prime importance in understanding the rise and fall of the Rotrou "Dynasty".
                                                    I bought my copy (published 2002) from Amazon.com (around £50) - Fascinating - Invaluable - a damned good read !

COMMENTS : ............................ This book, recently appeared in the Google Books list, and has been vital in adding information about the de Nogent
arrival in Ireland. We find the charters made by Henry II to Hugh de Lacy, and Hugh de Lacy to Gilbert de Nogent.
A 30 page overview of the Family Tree in Ireland to 1782 helps us to consolidate the De Nogent Family Tree.
